David Moreland Leland, Jr. "Sam"

David Moreland Leland, Jr., affectionately known as "Sam," age 69, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away on June 18, 2024. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late David Leland, Sr. and Harriet (Fenton) Parks, and was the loving husband of Sandra (Roberts) Leland.

Sam had a deep passion for drag racing beginning in 1974, where he enthusiastically piloted his "alcohol funny car" down countless tracks up and down the east coast from Canada to Florida. Beyond racing, he found joy in building motors as a hobby.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by his daughter, Samantha L. Leland; son, Nicholas R. Leland; and step-daughter, Jessica L. Williams; sisters, Susan Leland, and Cynthia Weisman, and 5 grandchildren.
