David Lee Strittmatter

David Lee Strittmatter, 74 of Joppatowne, MD passed away Thursday, Feb 25, 2016 at Hart Heritage Home in Street, MD where he had been for the past 18 months suffering from Alzheimer's.

David was born on April 21, 1941 in Altoona, PA., son of the late Martin J and Mary (Kaufman) Strittmatter. He attended Penn State University and graduated with a degree in business and finance. While living in Altoona he met his future wife Judy and married on June 3, 1961.

David settled down to raise his family in Joppatowne. He worked for the Federal Highway Administration for 35 years. Dave had many interests which included golfing, bowling, cheering for the O's and Ravens, and playing the organ. He was an accomplished organist for over 55 years, 36 of them were spent at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Joppatowne where on every Sunday morning he would play for the Sunday services. Dave also loved to spend time following the grandkids around and supporting them at whatever they were playing, acting, or singing. Every Saturday afternoon in the fall you could find him in front of the TV rooting on the Penn State Nittany Lions football team.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Judith Myers Strittmatter; and was devoted father of Michael Strittmatter Sr. and wife Beth; daughter Debbie Strittmatter Lester and husband Tom; daughter Tracey Strittmatter Wolf and husband Cuddy; cherished grandfather of Michael Strittmatter Jr and wife Connie, Megan Strittmatter Hosier and husband Jeff, Justin Strittmatter, Melody Strittmatter, Brandon Wolf, Jessica Lester, Heather Shulski and husband Brian; great grandchildren Hailey Shulski, Rylan Shulski, Miah Shulski, Isaac Strittmatter, Charlie Strittmatter.
