David Michael Kalendek Sr., age 81, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on January 6, 2025. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Glodek) Kalendek and the devoted husband of the late Carole Kalendek, to whom he was married since 1962.
A longtime resident of Northeast Baltimore, David was a man of many talents, particularly in mechanics. He had a passion for cars, motorcycles, and all things automotive. He proudly rode Triumphs, owned a Harley-Davidson, and drove a Corvette, sharing his love for vehicles with those around him. David was a dedicated parishioner of St. Margaret's Church and was a familiar face in the Duckpin Bowling League, where he and Carole bowled on Friday nights for over 30 years.
Professionally, David worked for 42 years with the State Highway Administration as a senior supervising lab technician. His natural mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills made him invaluable in his role, following in the footsteps of his father, a chemist.
David also loved traveling, especially his cherished trips to Ocean City with Carole, creating memories that reflected their deep bond.
He is survived by his sons, David Michael (Laurie “Blondie”) Kalendek Jr., and Todd Deraye Kalendek; his brother, Mark Kalendek; his sister, Jennifer Kalendek; and his grandsons, Michael Connelly and David J. Kalendek.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Kalendek.
David’s life will be celebrated with family and friends, cherishing the memories of his kind spirit, mechanical ingenuity, and the love he shared with his family.
