David Henry Rodefer, age 63, of Joppa, MD, died on October 18, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Beulah Laura May Rodefer of Bel Air, MD and the late Charles Reginald Rodefer. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force, where he was an air traffic controller. He was employed for 35 years, by the Department of Defense, working with Information Technology-Computer Security, and also taught, for 13 years, at NMARC where he built a greenhouse and developed a nursery business for those that he taught. He enjoyed time with his family and was an avid photographer, both personal and professional. He loved woodworking, music, playing the guitar, reading, and was an avid fisherman.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Frieda Maureen Haney Roderfer of Joppa, MD; two sons, Benjamin Davis Rodefer of Darlington, MD and Charles Michael Rodefer of Joppa, MD; brother, Charles Robert Rodefer of Bel Air, MD; sisters, Jane Louise Rodefer Zehl of Bel Air, MD and Margaret Lee Rodefer Leftridge of Edgewood, MD; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Bel Air, MD on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ralph Green officiating. Interment will be at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, MD at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a book donation may be made to a school or university of your choice.
