Darrell Raymond Port, age 66, of Bel Air, Maryland went to be with The Lord on December 12, 2020, following a long battle with Early Onset Dementia. He was born on August 7, 1954 in Baltimore to William Charles Port and Ruth Norma (Kus) Baker. He was raised by his loving grandparents, Edward Francis and Ruth Madalyne (Fisher) Kus.
He married Cecelia “Marie” Hogarth in 1974. They worked hard and lovingly raised three daughters together. Darrell retired as Superintendent of the Baltimore City Water Dept. after thirty years. He enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren, who called him Pop-Pop, fishing with his brother-in-law, Bill Hogarth, riding his motorcycle, singing and performing as Big El, and hanging with his lifelong best friend, Mark Keller.
In addition to his wife Marie, Darrell is survived by his three daughters, Angela Miles (Ron), Jennifer Port, and Lisa Simmons (Chris). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Matthew, David, and Joshua Miles; Alyssa Green; Aubrey, Conner, Emily and Anna Simmons.
The family will host a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Life Source-Perry Hall Church, 8855 Belair Rd., Nottingham, Maryland 21236. Please call or text Angela at 410-652-4417 or email amiles27@msn.com to be added to visitors list. This will help, so we can properly accommodate for the meal following the service and COVID-19 restrictions. Previously announced luncheon has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
In lieu of flowers, we know Darrell would love if you helped someone in need, in any way, to honor Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (Matthew 25, 34-40)
