DARLENE KAY CHEEK, age 56, of Bel Air, died at her residence on December 14, 2003. Born in Oakland, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Ray and Prema Clara Friend Bowman. She and her husband Larry of 34 years owned and operated a Crown Station in Bel Air, Maryland and an Exxon station in Havre de Grace, Maryland for many years. She was a manager in the ladies department for Walmart, Elkton, and Adolpho, Perryville. At the onset of her illness she was owner and operator of her own medical delivery service traveling numerous states. She graduated from Southern High School in Oakland, Maryland and was a lifetime member of D.A.V. in Perry Point, MD.
Mrs. Cheek is survived by her husband, Larry A. Cheek; two sons, Christopher Otis Cheek of Fawn Grove, PA; Matthew Scott Cheek of Dublin; three brothers, Clifford Ray Bowman of Angola, Louisiana; Ricky Lee Bowman of Mt. Lake Park, Maryland; Milton “Buck” Reed Bowman of Delray, West Virginia; three sisters, Patty Lou Glotfelty of McHenry, Maryland; Bonnie Sue Lewis of Oakland, Maryland; Pamla (correct spelling) Gail Dixon of Friendsville, Maryland; two grandchildren, Shannen Cheek; Christopher Cheek, both of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania; and one step-granddaughter, Kayla Reeves of Dublin, Maryland. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, James Alan Bowman.
