Dane Paul Kornick

Dane Paul Kornick, age 61, of Joppa, MD, died on April 20, 2009 at his home. Born in Waynesburg, PA on September 24, 1947, he moved to Parkville at the age of two. He lived with his Aunt Ann for two years until his home was built on Edgedale Road. Growing up in Loch Raven Village, he made his first communion, confirmation, and was an altar boy at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Baltimore, MD. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School through 8th grade; St. Stephen's School for 9th and then was in the first graduating class of Archbishop Curley High School in 1965. He is a graduate of Towson University in 1969. A resident of Harford County since 1974, he belonged to the Baltimore Claims Men Association, Maryland Worker's Compensation Educational Association, and the American Arbitration Association. He retired as Regional Vice President for Atlantic Companies in 2003 and had served on several insurance commissions over 29 years in the Casualty Insurance business. A Special Olympics golf coach and volunteer, he enjoyed golfing year round and traveling to other countries to play golf. He loved going to his home in Rehoboth, DE, where he loved to scuba dive, but never had the chance to do a night dive. He tried crabbing but was not very successful, bringing in maybe a crab or two, but mostly lots of mud. He also liked dining out with friends from the beach and trying new restaurants in the Rehoboth area.

Mr. Kornick is survived by his wife of 39 years, Victoria Kornick of Joppa, MD; sons, Adam Christopher Kornick and wife, Hazel, of Edgewood, MD and Chad David Kornick and wife, Gina, of Abingdon, MD; grandchildren, Bella and Mia Kornick, and aunt, Ann Kelly of Parkville, MD.

Pallbearers were Mike Farace, Ervin Taylor, Joshua Whitley, Vince Farace, Roy Mason, and Bob Whitley.
