Damon G. Meadows, age 78, of Joppa, MD, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2013 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Besoco, WV, he was the son of the late Teddy Plez and Wanetha Arlene Walker Meadows. He retired, after 30 years, from Bata Shoe Company where he was a shoe designer and also drove a bus for Harford County Public Schools. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he had painted murals on the wall at the Oak Grove Classical School. He was known for the love he had for his entire family, as well as, the walking sticks that he carved.
Mr. Meadows is survived by his wife of 18 years, Carol A. Day-Meadows; sons, Norman G. Meadows and wife, Barbara, of Bel Air and Jimmy L. Hurley and wife, Tina, of Joppa; daughters, Beverly G. Whitely and husband, Gene, of Pendleton, IN, Cynthia K. Anderson and husband, John, of Joppa, Patti A. Motley and husband, Michael, of Fallston, W. Joy Mattheu and husband, Michael, of Rising Sun and C. Marie Dubas and husband, Craig, of Abingdon; brothers, Jack L. Meadows and wife, Ellen, of Shady Springs, WV and Rev. Steve Meadows and wife, Martha, of Buckhannon, WV; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John C. Meadows, Joshua S. Meadows, Samuel G. Meadows, Shane A. Meadows, Bradley L. Motley, Justin A. Motley, Michael G. Mattheu and Jonathon A. Sayers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Whitely, John Anderson Jr., Craig Dubas, Michael Mattheu, John Sayers, Derek Paradise, Jimmy Hurley and Michael Motley.
