Cyrus Donald Moyer Sr.

Cyrus Donald Moyer Sr., age 84, of Havre de Grace, MD, formerly of Bel Air, died on March 12, 2011 at his home. Born in Palmyra, PA, he was the son of the late Paul M. Moyer and Verna Snyder McCarthy, and husband, for 52 years, of the late Elizabeth A. Moyer. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country during WWII as a radio operator on the destroyer the U.S.S. Ringness APD-100. He retired from Edgewood Arsenal in 1983 where he was a packaging specialist. A 45 year member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, he was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector and was involved in the ministries at Rock Spring Village. He was a man of integrity, great faith of our Lord Jesus, and had a true love and commitment to family.

Mr. Moyer is survived by two sons, Keith D. Moyer of Bel Air, MD and Brian R. Moyer and his wife, Marilyn Garcia, of Elkton, MD; six daughters, Sheryl L. Spooner of Havre de Grace, MD, Pamela A Roath and her husband, Gordon, of Bel Air, MD, Karen E. Zink and her husband, Rodney, of Whiteford, MD, Elaine M. Rutledge and her husband, Tom, of Jarrettsville, MD, Rebecca J. Dennison and her husband, Scott, of Bel Air, MD and Marcella K. Dawson and her husband, Charles, of Bel Air, MD; sisters, Eleanor Haakenson of OR and Jean Buchanan of CA; 19 grandchildren, Aimee Little of Elkton, MD, Jennifer Mays of Havre de Grace, MD, Patrick Campbell of Rising Sun, MD, Alison March of Bel Air, MD, Erica Jourdan of Abingdon, MD, Matthew Roath of Perryville, MD, Jeremiah Moyer of Belcamp, MD, Dawn Zink of Abingdon, MD, Brittany Zink of Whiteford, MD, Brandon Rutledge of Jarrettsville, MD, Christie Rutledge, of White Hall, MD, Natalie Moyer and Clara Moyer, both of Elkton, MD, Greg Smith, Steve Smith, Cory Dennison, Avery Dennison, Mitchell Boardman and Sydney Dawson, all of Bel Air, MD; and 15 great-grandchildren, Jake Little and Mason Little, both of Elkton, MD, Colin Mays and Beckett Mays, both of Havre de Grace, MD, Bryce Campbell, Collin Campbell, and Gavin Campbell, all of Rising Sun, MD, Robby March, Audrey March, and Evan March, all of Bel Air, MD, Alexis Moyer and Logan Moyer, both of Belcamp, MD, Dylan Coleman of White Hall, MD, and Andrew Jourdan and Blake Jourdan, both of Abingdon, MD.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Cyrus D. Moyer Jr., son-in-law, Stephen Spooner, and brother, Robert A. Moyer.
