Cynthia D. Sanderson (Pinky) was born on December 19th 1953 and was called home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the sole daughter of Elizabeth Scott and the late William Scott Sr. Cynthia was the beloved wife of Robert "Sandy" Sanderson of 49 years and dearly devoted mother of six, grandmother of 18 and great grandmother of 3 .
Cynthia received her education from the Baltimore City public school system and received her High school diploma from Eastern High School class of 1971. Upon graduation her father gave her a trip to Europe with her classmates.
Cynthia had a love for helping others. As a young adult she learned sign language and worked for the Maryland school for the blind. She also worked as a student nurse at Bon Secours Hospital. Cynthia was very studious and obtained a degree in both early childhood education and Social Therapy from Towson State University . Despite her degrees Cindy found joy in being a stay at home mom and loved being able to raise and teach her children. Cindy was a lifelong learner outside of the classroom and had many hobbies. She loved to sew, cook, and read. Cindy also loved interior decorating and would spend her Saturdays taking long road trips to find a good consignment shop followed by a nice country meal at one of her favorite restaurants.
Cynthia was a dedicated member of the American Parkinson's Disease Foundation. She worked side by side with University of Maryland's Parkinson's research group helping with their fight against Parkinson’s. Cindy actively participated in the Rock Steady Boxing Parkinson's Group in Fallston, MD. As well as Parkinson’s Boxing the YMCA in Abingdon MD. She also found a love of swimming which helped maintain her mobility while dealing with Parkinson’s. She found solace and community at Mountain Christian Church- Edgewood Campus. She was a valued member of the Women's Bible study group where she built a sisterhood and gained lifelong friends who have maintained their love and continued support for her and her family .Cynthia had a passion for journaling and loved to read a good book. Her enthusiasm for life extended to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren reflecting her resilience and spirit.
In addition to her husband, Cynthia is survived by her son, Aaron Sanderson Sr (Michelle) daughters, Bryanna Sanderson, Amanda Matthews, and Samantha Gamble (Grady) ; grandchildren, Carissa Burns, Austin Schwandtner, Serena Dushel, Julian Lahdelma, Aryanna Martin-Sanderson, Aaron Sanderson Jr., Zoe Lahdelma, Autumn Sanderson, Austin Sanderson, Adriana Sanderson, Aleyah Ritter, Devon Pringle Jr., Kylie Ritter, Hunter Matthews, Aryah Johnson, Kenley Gamble and Grady Gamble, Jr.; great-grandson, Matthew Burns; great-granddaughters, Eden Wiggins and Aurora Wiggins; three brothers, William Scott Jr (Elizabeth), Michael Scott, (Geraldine) and David Scott (Mariquititus).
Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, William Scott Sr., sons Shannon Sanderson and Brian Sanderson, brother Raymond Scott and grandchild Kylea Ritter.
