Cynthia McNeish

Cynthia (Cindy) Lou McNeish, age 73, of Aberdeen went to be with her lord and savior on June 25th, 2023. Cindy was born on April 28th, 1950 in Zanesville, Ohio, a daughter to the late Clarence (Chuck) and Luella (Wilson) Murray also of Zanesville, Ohio.  Cindy spent her childhood years living with her parents and sister Kimberly (Kim) (Murray) Maizar in Philo, Ohio and attended school there as well.   She was a dedicated and bright student during her school years and her favorite subjects were English and Literature.

Cindy married her husband of 55 years, Gary L. McNeish on April 20th, 1968, in her Methodist Church in Philo, Ohio by Pastor Barnhart. 

Cindy spent many years working in the healthcare industry at several locations across the country.  Cindy accompanied her husband at many duty stations around the world during his many years of military service until his retirement from the U.S. Army on April 30th, 1992 after more than 26 years of service.  Cindy and Gary remained in Hampton, VA for many years until she retired from Personal Touch Home Health Care on June 30th, 2019. They then moved to Florida for a couple years to enjoy the warm climate while playing bocce, shuffleboard and walking on their favorite beach, Siesta Key.  Cindy and her husband Gary later moved to Aberdeen, MD to be close to their daughter Julie Barmer and her extended family.

Cindy was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.   Grandchildren are Jessica (Tyler), Maurice (Simona), Julian, Jordan (Tanaya), Olivia, Sofia, Laila, Chloe, Mya, and Zoe.  The great grandchildren are Aniya, Levi, Mila, Ary and Neko.  They all had a very special place in her heart and meant the world to her. Her favorite pastime was spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cindy was also an avid collector of Boyd Bears, and she built a collection of over 500 pieces that many admired.

Surviving are her husband Gary McNeish of Aberdeen, MD, her three children, her daughter Julie (Josh) Barmer of Edgewood, MD, her son Chad (Monica) McNeish of Newport News, VA her son Cody (Rachael) McNeish of Hampton, VA  her sister Kimberly (Jerry) Maizar of Zanesville, OH, her aunt Susie (Larry) Sherburn of Newark, OH along with many cousins, nieces and nephews and her lifelong, childhood best friend Darla Montgomery.

Cindy was one of a kind wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be sincerely missed by all.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 to 12:00 and 2:00 to 4:00 on July 1st, 2023 at McComas Family Funeral Home at 1317 Cokesbury Road, Abingdon, MD 21009 where a service will be held the same day at 4:00.
