CW4 (Ret.) Ronald "Chief" Leroy Bradley died on October 4, 2009. He was born July 12, 1934 in Richmond, Virginia, where he graduated from Armstrong High in June 1952. He was a graduate of Morgan State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology.
Chief Bradley entered military service by enlisting in the US Army in 1957 as a Corporal. He served in many different assignments during his career, to include Korea, Vietnam, Germany and several stateside assignments. During his assignment in Germany he was appointed to the rank of Warrant Officer in 1965. He retired in January 1983, ending his military service at his last assignment at the APG Ordnance Center and School.
He was a member of the Aberdeen Proving Ground Main Post Chapel where he served as a member of the Chapel Choir and as Choir Director for several years.
Chief Bradley was very active in the community and a member of the Jessie J. Shanks Masonic lodge 137 F&AM (PHA), where he served as Worshipful Master for two terms as well as a member of the 6th Masonic district staff. In addition, Mr. Bradley was a 32nd Degree mason, a member of Boaz Chapter 21 Royal Arch Masons, and a member of the Charlie Smith council of the Knights of Pythagoras.
He was also a lifetime member of Charlie Miller Post VFW 6054, a member of the retired Officers Association, and a Pershing Rifles alumnus.
Chief Bradley was a devoted and loving family man, loyal friend, and a stellar Soldier for whom "uncommon valor was a common virtue."
He is survived by his wife, Barbara G. Bradley of Edgewood, MD, his daughter Linda B. McClease of Baltimore, MD, his daughter Regina K. Bradley of Virginia Beach, VA and his son Ronald L. Bradley, Jr., Edgewood, MD.
