Curtis Paul Bauer

Curtis Paul Bauer, 81, of Bel Air, MD passed away on September 15, 2015 at his home. Born in Emmaus, PA, he was the son of the late Paul Stephen Bauer and Elsie Lucinda (Kehs) Bauer. A resident of Harford County for 53 years, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. During his time in the Army, Curtis and his "Army Buddies" forged a lifelong friendship that has lasted almost 60 years. He had worked 37 years at Edgewood Arsenal where as a draftsman he pioneered the development and launch of the Computer Aided Design (CAD) program. He shared his knowledge and skills by serving as a CAD implementation consultant with organizations around the country. Known as an expert point of reference in CAD he was asked to instruct the first evening CAD program for The John Carroll School at Edgewood Arsenal. His strong leadership skills also carried over into the community. As President of the Harford County Parks and Recreation he organized and launched the town of Bel Air's first May Day parade in 1978. He was actively involved in the Bel Air Lads `n Lasses Majorette and Drum Corps for over 15 years. From serving as Parents Club President, to developing the marching corps crest his volunteer time was endless. His love for learning new technology continued after his retirement from Edgewood Arsenal in 1989 as he began a wedding video company. This hobby turned into a successful business and unveiled a special bond with his daughter, sharing their love for technology, he named the company C&E Video (Curtis and Elizabeth). Curtis carried his video camera everywhere. His ability to learn new technology by reading manuals and self-teaching allowed him to develop an in-house editing studio that he worked in until his death. Along with close friends, The Nelson's, Curtis and Sylvia traveled around the world sharing many adventures and laughs. Curtis loved G-scale trains. He collected cars and spent hours building intricate models from all over the world always adding his own touch with more lights and sounds . He was always happy to share his elaborate displays with friends and most importantly his grandchildren.

Mr. Bauer is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia M. (Stoudt) Bauer; daughter, Elizabeth A. Gay and husband, William, of Kingsville; and grandchildren, Cody and Cassidy Gay. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William Bauer.
A Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Abingdon, MD on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 1 p.m.
