Csm Billy R. Sanders, Us Army (Ret.)

CSM Billy R. Sanders, US Army (Ret.), age 66, of Churchville, MD, passed away on June 17, 2013 at his home. Born in Ariton, AL, he was the son of the late Ray Raymond and Bessie Catherine Garner Sanders. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served on active duty with the Army Corps of Engineers for 26 years and again with the Corps for 19 years in Civil Service. His Duty Assignments included Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was awarded several Honors and Medals which included the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Southeast Asia Service Medal w/3 Bronze Stars and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. A resident of Harford County since 1992, he was an avid hunter and gardener. He trained English Cocker Spaniel Bird Dogs, cultivated Camellias and restored vintage Porsches.

CSM Sanders is survived by his wife of 41 years, Doris Weaver Sanders; brothers, Bobby G. Sanders of Blountstown, FL, Jeffery W. Sanders of Ozark, AL, John B. Sanders of Lakeland, FL; sisters, Linda A. Madrid of Germany, Patricia C. Robinson of Cannon Falls, MN, Millie S. Drum of Columbia Heights, MN, Deborah J. Sanders of Ozark, AL, Omega A. Sanders of Loganville, GA and Clarissa F. Lamarr of Mondovi, WI; aunt, Mary Alice Cox of Clio, AL; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Jimmie R. Sanders and sisters, Shirley C. Gallaspie and Sandra J. Lewis.
