Coy "Bud" Campbell Sr., age 95, of Conowingo, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2024. Born in Chickalah, Arkansas, he was the beloved son of Herman and Dessie (Carter) Campbell and the cherished husband of Phyllis (Monk) Campbell.
Bud proudly served as a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His greatest joy was performing with his band, the Barn Owls, at Pop's Place every Friday night for over 25 years. It was at one of these musical gatherings that he met his wife Phyllis, to whom he was married for 11 wonderful years.
An avid hunter, Bud loved pursuing black bears, moose, antelope, and everything in between. He cherished his trips back to Arkansas to visit family, embracing the land of his youth. Known for his warm heart and welcoming nature, Bud was a gentle, kind, soul with a beautiful smile. He had a unique ability to make everyone he met feel like a friend. To know him was to love him.
In addition to his beloved wife, Phyllis, Bud is survived by his daughter, Patricia Lynn (Robert) Ayres; sons, Coy (Sue) Campbell Jr., and Roger Lee (Anita) Campbell; stepdaughters, Debra Lynn (James) Williams, and Teresa Monk (Michael) Tarlton; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Johnnie Ray Campbell; and sisters, Marilyn Lou Norbury and Carolyn Sue Womack.
Bud was preceded in death by his first wife of 59 years, Ruby Campbell; son, Bobby Ray Campbell; daughter, Ruth Angela Hirt; brother, Leroy Campbell; and sisters, Ruby Nell Kanabe, Marie Lawson, and Loretta Mae Ratliff.
