CORA L. BURTON, age 86, of Edgewood, died at Franklin Woods Center, Rossville, on July 1, 2005. Born in Wilkes County, North Carolina, the fourth of eight children, she was the daughter of the late James Garfield and Cora Bell Lovette Eller. She was raised on a farm. She came to Maryland at 18, married and had two children, Robert and Jean. She lived in Maryland for the rest of her life except for a few years in Arizona. She liked farming, hunting and fishing with her husband. She loved county music, playing the guitar, and writing music. In her later years, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and sharing food with neighbors. She loved family get togethers with her children and grandchildren. Her work experience was mostly as a supervisor in a machine shop. She attended Towne Baptist Church in Joppatowne and enjoyed social activities with church family. She had been a resident of Franklin Woods Center in Rossville, Baltimore County, for a year.
Mrs. Burton is survived by a son, Robert D. Burchett of Edgewood, a daughter, Jean Diggins and her husband, Wayne, of Baltimore; two brothers, Lonnie Eller and Joe Eller, both of Wilkesboro, North Carolina; two sisters, Pearl Hayes of Bel Air and Mary Fox of Seattle, Washington; ten grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Henry Eller.
Pallbearers were: Steve Diggins, Randy Diggins, Scott Diggins, Barry Diggins, Bence Looney, Dan Taylor, and David Burchett.
