Connie Smith

Connie Smith, age 86, of Edgewood, MD, passed away on May 4, 2014 at Smith's Care for the Elderly in Edgewood. Born in Marion, VA, she was the daughter of Ethel Mae Combs Diakos and wife of the late Robert Kenneth Smith. She owned and operated, for 35 years, Smith's Care for the Elderly.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Robert W. Smith and wife, Patricia, of Edgewood; daughters, Janet Smith-Morgan of Denver, CO and Susan Smith Sanders and husband, Walter, of Abingdon; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Phillip Smith and Benjamin Smith Sr.; daughters, Linda Smith and Rebecca Woods; and stepfather, Antony Diakos.

Having her family around her and helping others were her greatest joy. Everyone who met her found a friend.
