COL JOHNSON, “T.J.”, age 55, of Abingdon, Maryland, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD on June 10, 2004. Born in Cook County, Illinois, he was the son of Victoria T. Johnson of Lombard, Illinois and the late Arthur William Johnson. A resident of Harford County for 18 years, he was a member of the American Legion Post 17 of Edgewood and the V.F.W. of Abingdon. He collected teddy bears. He had completed 31 years of military service and was a Vietnam veteran who served as a helicopter pilot. He served as Chief of Staff 29ID (L) and Commander of the First Squadron 158th U.S. Calvary, (IYACYAS). The night before his death he went to Washington D.C. to pay his respects at the Capital to President Ronald Reagan.
In addition to his mother, COL Johnson is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan L. Cowdrey Johnson; one son, Arthur W. Johnson of Abingdon; one daughter, Jennifer S. Wyatt of Bel Air; one brother, Charles Johnson of Elmhurst, Illinois; four sisters, Liz Hunka; Lois Kecklick; Ethel Fearnow; and Margaret Oliphant, all of Illinois; four grandchildren, Jackson A. Wyatt, III ; Thomas W. Wyatt; Courtney L. Wyatt; and Billy J. Crowley all of Bel Air.
