Clementina (Connie) Rubley, 98, of Lake Oswego, OR, passed away on May 2, 2015 at The Pearl Memory Care residence in Lake Oswego. Connie was born to the late Angelo and Incoronata "Mary" DeFelice Daloe of Hartford, CT, and was the wife of the late John Frederick Rubley, a WWII veteran. She was a vivacious and upbeat woman, known for her spunk, who cherished her family and showed it constantly. She was known as an expert cook and everything that came from her kitchen was made from scratch. She enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables with Jack, especially peaches and chili, and would make favorite meals for her loved ones. She enjoyed sewing elegant clothes and keeping her home in tip-top shape. An old fashioned homemaker, and a perfectionist, Connie made everything she touched even better with her attention to detail. Her working career included several years in upscale, retail fashion where she was sought after as a skilled stylist to her customers. Connie was very religious and attended Catholic Mass weekly. She participated in the St. Francis de Sales prayer line for several years and would keep her list of prayers by her bed so that each night she could talk with God about those she loved. Her travels with Jack took the two of them across the USA on road trips and farther abroad to Ireland. There she began her love of Belleek china, which she enjoyed collecting.
Connie's true joy came from her family. She treasured the time she had with them, each and every moment. Even in the later years of her life, she would light up at the sight of her great grandchildren with the deepest delight.
Connie was a treasured gem to her family and will be remembered for her faith, generosity, humor, thoughtfulness, fashion sense, and joie de vive.
Connie is survived by her beloved son, Alfred D. Calabria and his wife, Cynthia, of Lake Oswego, OR; stepdaughter Allyn Rubley Parr, who she loved as her daughter, of Oswego, NY. She also left grandchildren, Gina Lauren Calabria Mell and husband, Loren, of San Diego, CA, and their children Alfred Ryan and Elliot Angelo; Adam Michael Calabria and wife, Kelly, of Lake Oswego, OR, and their children Maria and Penelope; and Allyn's daughter Beth Ann (Rubley) Barlow and husband Steve and their daughters Lindsay and Nikki. She also left one great-great granddaughter, Peyton Nicole Wilmott, Nikki's daughter. Connie is also survived by a beloved nephew, Richard (Rick) Daloe, son of her brother Henry and her sister-in-law, Pauline. In addition to her parents, her first husband the late Vincent Joseph Calabria, and second husband Jack Rubley, she was predeceased by her brothers, Henry A. Daloe, a WWII veteran, who died in March of 1996 and Alfred W. Daloe, Alfred Calabria's and Alfred Ryan's namesake, who died February 25, 1945 in action in Germany.
