Clarence French Cox Jr., nicknamed "Popeye", was born in Bluefield, WV on April 10, 1943 to Alfreda Lorraine Moses Cox and Clarence Cox Sr. Clarence spent his life in construction and wheeling and dealing cars. He had many hobbies and interests including cooking for his family and friends, and spending time with his Chihuahuas. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus for family and Cub Scouts. One of his favorite places to visit was Lancaster, PA. Clarence passed away after a lengthy illness on November 5, 2012. He is survived by loved one Ellen Howell, his mother "Little Maw Maw", son Brian Cox and daughter-in-law Kristal. Stepson Mitchell McLain and step-daughter Sherry Cochran. Brothers Norman, Richard, Darrel and Kenneth Cox. Sisters Marion Halsey and Judy Evans. 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence, daughter Rhonda Parks, sisters, Ellen Dugan and Donna Lutter and brother David Cox.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 17th at Gospel Baptist Tabernacle, Sharon Road, Jarrettsville, MD. Visitation with the family will be from 10-11 a.m. with the service to follow at 11 a.m. A Social will follow at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, 3414 Cedar Church Road, Darlington, MD.
