Clarence Nelson Burns Sr.

Clarence Nelson Burns Sr., age 75, of Bel Air, MD, died on December 1, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, surrounded by loving family. Born in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Matilda Elizabeth Burke Burns. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during the Korean War and retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground after 41 years as a Civilian Gunner Foreman. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the NRA and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Burns is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elsie "Sis" Lorraine Homer Burns of Bel Air, MD; sons, Clarence Nelson Burns Jr. of Bel Air, MD and Ronald Lee Burns of Forest Hill, MD; daughter, Sherri Lorraine Burns Comer and husband, David Alan, of Havre de Grace, MD; brother, John Buddy Burns of Newark, DE; sisters, Grace Homer of Havre de Grace, MD, Florence Travers of Level, MD, Nancy Burns of Forest Hill, MD, Genevieve Heckl of Ellicott City, MD; nine grandchildren, Benjamin and Jacob Comer, Joshua L. Burns, Jeremy Burns and wife, Amy, Christopher Burns, Norman A. Smith III, Meghan L. Fulton, and Morghan T. Fulton; and six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Madison Burns, and Cameron, Jasmine, and Lilly Burns, and Ava Burns; and devoted loved ones, John and Sherre Fulton.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Mabel Burns, Benjamin Burns, Ruth Garity, Henery Burns, Joan Forwood, and Paul Burns.

Pallbearers will be Clarence N. Burns Jr., Ronald L. Burns, Jeremy R. Burns, Joshua L. Burns, Christopher N. Burns, David A. Comer, Benjamin D. Comer, and Jacob D. Comer. Honorary pallbearers will be John F. Fulton and Fred Little.
