Clara A. Huffington

Clara A. Huffington, age 87, of Churchville, MD, died on May 27, 2009 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Norman Ellis and Nellie McNeill Adair Arther. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, she served in the WAVES during WWII. She graduated from Western Maryland College in 1942 and went on to Johns Hopkins University to earn her Master of Arts degree. She was married in 1952 and taught elementary school in Catonsville and high school in Jarrettsville. She was also class secretary for WMC for 30 years. She enjoyed raising her family and taking care of her home. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, sailing and playing the piano. She was very active in the church, Meals on Wheels and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Clara is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Norris Jackson Huffington Jr., daughters Pamela Aucker, and husband Brian, Laura Wink, and husband Lee, and sons John Huffington and William Huffington. Also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren Erin Hutchinson, and husband Chet, Nathan Aucker, fiancée Ashley Allen, Rachael Aucker, Harkins Hutchinson and Cedar Hutchinson. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Ellis Arther.

Pallbearers will be Bill Huffington, Lee Wink, Brian Aucker, Nathan Aucker, Joe O'Brien and Matt Hall.
