Claire Catherine Hatem, S.F.O., 87, of Bel Air, MD passed away on October 19, 2015 at Avondell Assisted Living in Bel Air. Born in Minersville, PA, she was the daughter of the late William Bernosky and Irene Covolesky and beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Hatem. Claire graduated from Pottsville Nursing School. She had worked as a Registered Nurse at Aberdeen Proving Ground, as well as, an OR nurse supervisor at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace. She belonged to the Occupational Health Nurses Association and retired after 40 years of nursing. A Franciscan of St. Padre Pio Pietrelcina Fraternity Secular Franciscan Order, she was very involved at St. Margaret Parish and helped with many ministries. She was on the Parish Council, was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Legion of Mary. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America; Inner Wheel of Rotary; and Ladies of the Moose. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for over 50 years. She also worked with outreach programs and served dinners at homeless shelters.
Mrs. Hatem is survived by her loving sister, Florence Nawrocki; nieces and nephew, Cynthia Dmochowski, Cheryl Silakoski, Pamela Sanders and William Sanders. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved twin sister, Rita M. Sanders.
