Christine Archer Tipton

Christine Archer Tipton, 68, of Bel Air, MD passed away on October 9, 2015 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born in South Bend, IN, she was the daughter of the late Richard Frank Archer and Rita Marie (Dunn) Archer. In her 35 years as an educator, she spent 17 years teaching in Tucson, AZ, following the 1977 completion of her Master's degree in English Reading from the University of Arizona. The remainder of her teaching career was spent at Southampton Middle School in Bel Air, MD, where she taught 7th and 8th grade English and Math, and led the Mathematics Department as Chair for five years. She spent her early years as a Systems Quality Control Analyst for Hughes Aircraft of Tucson, AZ following the completion of her second Master's degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1983. After her retirement in 2005, she continued to pursue her passions in education and mathematics as a substitute teacher and tutor in Harford County.

Mrs. Tipton is survived by her husband, Charles Lincoln Tipton; sons, Benjamin Ross Rudy of Cecil County and Roger Blaine Rudy (Jacquee) of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Emily Joan Tipton of Baltimore, MD; brothers, Richard Frank and Robert Joseph Archer both of Tucson, AZ; sister, Catherine A Zelinski of Reno, NV; and grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Campbell, Brooke Victoria Campbell, Samuel Blaine Rudy, Eve Jacqueline Rudy and Lucas Charles Rudy. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Joan Marie Archer. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the many doctors, surgeons and nurses in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
