CHRISTIAN F. MORLOK SR., age 89, of Aberdeen, MD, died peacefully on March 28, 2008 at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, MD with Ruth, his wife of 62 years at his side. Born in Abingdon, MD, he was the son of the late Christian Lewis and Nellie Lavinia Ely Morlok. He worked for Kunkel Service Company for 31 years and was a proud lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a recipient of the Bronze Star, serving during WWII in Company A, 3rd Chemical Mortar Battalion for four years. (1941-1945). He saw combat in North Africa, Sicily, and throughout Europe, he was involved in 3 amphibious landings and participated in a total of 7 major campaigns, one, Monte Casino, which was a horrific combat for 3 months where half the battalion was lost. He was a life member of the Abingdon VFW Post #5337, the Aberdeen American Legion Post #128, and the Aberdeen Golden Age Club. He loved fishing, crabbing, hunting, and used to coach Aberdeen Little League. A devoted pop-pop, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Morlok is survived by his wife, Ruth Kern Morlok of Aberdeen, MD; two sons, C. Frederick Morlok Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Aberdeen, MD and David G. Morlok and his wife, Nancy, of Aberdeen, MD; adopted son, Rick Bruno of Aberdeen, MD; a sister, Roseanna Taylor of Havre de Grace, MD; five grandchildren, Chris Morlok III of Aberdeen, MD, Jeffrey Morlok and his wife, Amanda, of Aberdeen, MD, Leocea McLanahan and her husband, Kenneth McLanahan Jr., of Conowingo, MD, Ian Morlok and his wife, Kerri, of Rising Sun, MD, and Matthew C. Morlok of Bel Air, MD; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Lewis A. Morlok Sr.
Pallbearers were Ian Morlok, Matt Morlok, Chris Morlok III, Jeffrey Morlok, Kenneth McLanahan Jr., and KC McLanahan III. Honorary pallbearer was Rick Bruno.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 201 Mt. Royal Avenue, Aberdeen, MD 21001.
