Bel Air

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlotte Virginia Schofield (Cage) of Bel Air, MD. who passed away on Feb. 12, 2025, at the age of 95.

Charlotte was born on April 9, 1929, to Harvey Franklin Cage and Laura Belle Cage in Harford County, MD. Her father died when she was just 4 years old, and she was raised with her brother Jim in the Depression years by her mother and grandparents who were farmers in Harford County. She attended a one room schoolhouse in Churchville, MD. and then graduated from the original Bel Air High School. She worked at Bata Shoe Company and then Edgewood Arsenal until she married and devoted her life to caring for her home and family. She was a long-time active member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Abingdon, MD. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and gardening and was the greatest listener and giver of good advice, love, and comfort. She loved her family with all of her heart.

Preceded in joining the Lord were her parents James and Laura Belle Cage, her beloved husband of 66 years Arthur (Tex) Schofield, and brother James Cage.

She is survived by Daughters Laureen Hughes (Stephen) and Kathleen Capasso (Michael). She was the best Mimi to her five grandchildren who were the light of her life - Adam Hughes (Tiffany), Shelby Pace, Ryan Hughes (Agatha), Gabriel Capasso (Krystle) and Juliana Gullion (Michael), as well as eight great grandchildren- Luke, Wyatt, Emma, Tucker, Vincent, Adriana, Tanner, and Lawson. Her family is grateful for her life and devotion to them all. She will live in their hearts forever.

Pallbearers will be Adam Hughes, Ryan Hughes, Shelby Pace, Gabriel Capasso, Juliana Gullion, Leo Sydlik, Vincent Capasso and Luke Pace. 

Honorary Pallbearers are Wyatt Pace, Emma and Tucker Hughes, Adriana Capasso, Tanner Gullion and Lawson Gullion.

Services will be held at McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon, MD. On Tuesday February 18, 2025. Visitation will be held at 10 am with service at 11 am to celebrate her life.
