Charlotte Imogene Parrish, age 89, of Bel Air, quietly passed away at her home on January 20, 2017. Born August 15, 1927 in Curtisville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Philip Omer and Eva Bonnie Kendall Beatty. Charlotte graduated from the Mannington High School, West Virginia. Charlotte was married for 53 years to the late Gordon Ray Parrish.
After WWII Charlotte and her husband moved to Maryland where she was employed as a secretary to Dr. Beck/Dr. Romo of Middle River and worked for Evershield Products in Joppa. Later she worked as a bank teller for Forest Hill State Bank in Jarrettsville and at York Bank &Trust in Shrewsbury, PA.
When Charlotte and Gordon retired, they returned to West Virginia for 11 years. There Charlotte kept active being President to the Mannington Garden Club, President of the American Legion Auxiliary #40 Mannington, Treasurer and active member of the First United Methodist Church under Rev. Ullian, and was a volunteer at the Fairmont General Hospital. She left many friends back in Mannington and Barrackville. After moving back to Maryland they lived at Taylor Ridge in Bel Air and had many friends there.
Mrs. Parrish is survived by her only child, Leonard Aubrey Parrish and his wife Mary Jane Parrish of Bel Air and three Grandchildren and their families – Angela L. Hoover (Christopher), Pamela J. Purce (Ken) and Leonard R. Parrish (Andrea) and five Great Granddaughters, Alexandra, Caroline, Aubrey, Cassidy and Marley and two Great Grandsons, Grant and Emory. She also had 3 step Great Grandchildren – Grace Ruth and Jack. Charlotte is also survived by her sister Alma June Thorne and 2 nieces and a nephew and their families in West Virginia; and a cousin Bill Parrish of Baltimore and his family.
