Charlotte Mae Crouse

   Charlotte Mae Crouse (Starks), age 74, of Joppa, MD passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at her Mt. Jackson home surrounded by family. 


   Charlotte was born July 5, 1949, in Rockingham County, VA and was the daughter of the late Fred T. and Mary L. Starks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Kathern L. Simons. 


   On October 21, 1967, she married Vearl C. Crouse who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, James C. Crouse (Tina), daughters Tammy L. Shifflett (Marty) and Carolyn M. Crouse. A sister, Linda C. Hughes and brother, Fredie A. Starks. Eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many close nieces and nephews.


   Charlotte was a long time member of Stepney Faith Center church, under Rev. Harold Pyle. She served there for many years with the Ladies Missionaries, enjoyed singing, playing her guitar, and decorating the church. 


   Charlotte’s talents were many. She loved refinishing furniture, sewing, baking and doing crafty projects. She enjoyed spending time with family and staying at her summer home in Mt. Jackson, VA. 


   In addition to her many life accomplishments she most enjoyed decorating cakes, sharing her talent at Bel Air Bakery and later opening her own business, Charlotte’s Bakery in Elkton, VA. She felt most honored working at US Army CHPPM, at Edgewood Proving Ground. Later becoming a caregiver, sharing her love and compassion with so many others.


Charlotte will be mostly remembered for her selfless acts of kindness, care for others, artistic talents and her Faith and Love for God.
