Charlotte Chalone Taylor

October 2, 1919 — February 22, 2004

CHARLOTTE CHALONE TAYLOR, age 84, of Edgewood, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on February 22, 2004. Born in Churchville on October 2, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Cerney Chalone, and the wife for 52 years of the late Claude Taylor. She was a member of the Otter Point Women’s Auxiliary, Eastern Star, a Girl Scout Leader and server on many community projects as well as an active PTA member. During her lifetime as being a wonderful mother and wife, she also worked at Edgewood Arsenal, Bata Shoe Company, and retired from Franklin Square Hospital as a dietitian. She was also a survivor of breast cancer since 1970. She collected recyclable cans to buy savings bonds for her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and canning and also shopping for collectable antiques.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by three daughters, Susan Shiner and her husband John of Edgewood; Sandra Bredlow and her husband Donald of Delta, Pennsylvania; Diann Neely and her husband Louis of Port Deposit; one brother, William Chalone of Sarasota, Florida; two sisters, Betty Simmons of Aberdeen; Madeline Yon of Abingdon; 11 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Ronald Claude Taylor; one step-daughter, Claudette Taylor Weaver; and one brother, Frank Chalone.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Tim G. King, Michael R. King, Adam R. Taylor, John M. Shiner, II, Ryan W. Bredlow, Grant L. Neely, and Devin R. Neely. Honorary pallbearers were: Fred Forbes, SFC Marc Schenker and Billy Woods.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 97100, Dallas, Texas 75397.
