Charles "Wally" Wollenweber , age 84, of Edgewood, MD passed away on March 9, 2012 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born and raised in Hamilton, MD he was the son of the late Charles and Thelma Idalisa Davis Wollenweber. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country during WWII aboard the USS Orlick DD886 and was a member of the American Legion Post #17. He enjoyed boating and was a former member of the Baltimore Yacht Club U.S. Power Squadron. A resident of Harford County for nine years, he attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Edgewood, MD.
Mr. Wollenweber is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Wollenweber of Edgewood, MD; sons, Charles H. Wollenweber, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Edgewood, MD and Thomas B. Wollenweber and wife, Laura, of Hampstead, MD; brothers, Herbert Wollenweber of Rosedale, MD and Norman Wollenweber of Baltimore, MD; 5 grandchildren, Dana Znamirowski, Chad Wollenweber, Julie Wilson, Casey Baynes and Emily Wollenweber and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ida Mae Gorman.
