Charles W. Broumel, a retired registered nurse with John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix Arizona, died Sunday night after a long battle with kidney disease. His indomitable spirit in the face of adversity was an inspiration to his family and friends. He lived his life with integrity and bravery. The former Bel Air resident was 61.
Born in Bel Air Maryland, he attended Bel Air High School and was a graduate of Charlotte Hall Military Academy. He was a Vietnam Veteran and continued his military service as a Medical Specialist for 14 years.
Mr. Broumel was preceded in death by his father James Howard Broumel, his mother Sara Ellen Broumel, and his two brothers James Howard and Thomas Price Broumel.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Crouse Broumel of Glendale, AZ; a son, Thomas Broumel of Glendale, AZ; a daughter, Anne Edwards of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Taylor and Katelynn Edwards, both of Phoenix, AZ; a nephew, Paul Broumel of Bel Air, MD; and two nieces, Ellen Broumel and Martha Gwinner, both of Bel Air, MD.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
