We are saddened to announce the passing of Charles E. Silk on May 2, 2023, at the age of 93; devoted husband of the late Annette Silk (nee D’Amico), devoted son of Marie A. Silk, brother of the late Edward D. Mitchell, the late Howard W. Silk, the late Albert L. Silk. He is survived by his loving sister Frances M. Hayden of Bel Air MD, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.


Born on January 12,1930 and raised in Baltimore, Charles graduated from Baltimore City College in 1948 and then joined the United States Army, serving in the First Infantry Division,1948-1952, mostly in Germany. After military service, he joined Horace Mann, Inc., and became an insurance agent, a profession in which he excelled, as he was frequently granted awards by his company for outstanding sales performance. He was also a committed athlete and played baseball and basketball for the 16th Infantry Regimental team during his Army service. Tennis was a lifelong passion, as he took up the sport in his twenties and played well after the age of 80. He was a passionate fan of his hometown sports teams, especially the Baltimore Colts and Orioles. Charles enjoyed travel and socializing with his many friends, especially from work and the American Legion. He was noted for his ready laugh and wonderful sense of humor.
