Charles S. Cantler, age 80, of Abingdon, MD passed away on February 5, 2012 at his home. Born in Whiteford, MD, he was the son of the late Paul Elmer and Nellie Elizabeth Beavers Cantler and husband, for 56 years, of the late Ruby Mae Cantler. A lifelong resident of Harford County, he served our country in the U.S. Air Force where he boxed on the Air Force Boxing Team. He was a member of Edgewood Assembly of God Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Lay Leader and Song Leader. He retired, after 26 years, from Chrysler Corporation. He loved to bowl, and enjoyed riding motorcycles and being outdoors, especially fishing.
Mr. Cantler is survived by his son, Donald C. Cantler and wife, Jodi, of Rising Sun, MD; daughters, Debbie Kay Smallwood and husband, Stanley, of Edgewood, MD, Denise Louise Jamack and husband, Pete, of Abingdon, MD and Donna Mae Navarro and husband, Rigoberto, of Airville, PA; brothers, Arthur Cantler of Aberdeen, MD and Gene Cantler of Martinsville, VA; nine grandchildren, Joshua Love, Rachel Deener, Matthew and Ryan Smallwood, Chrysta, Peter and Zachary Jamack, Adam Johnston and Rigoberto Navarro Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his grandson, David Johnston.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Love, Peter Jamack, Matthew Smallwood, Adam Johnston, Zachary Jamack, Rigoberto Navarro, Ryan Smallwood, and Gene Deener.
