Charles Louis Brockmeyer, Sr., age 94, of Joppa, MD passed away on May 14, 2019 at Hart Heritage Estates in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Baltimore County, MD, he was the son of Andrew and Augusta (Amereihn) Brockmeyer and husband of the late Chrystelle (Brewer) Brockmeyer. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a Staff Sgt. during WWII and was stationed in China, Burma and India. Charlie started Harford Carpet Sales in Edgewood in 1959 and worked there for 30 years until his children Roy, Sue and Glen took over the business. He was VP of Harford County Chamber of Commerce, member of the Young Democratic Club and was on the John Carroll School Board of Directors. A member of St. Stephen Catholic Church was a CCD teacher for 13 years and was a Scout Master for over 50 years receiving the Silver Beaver Award, which is the highest award an adult can achieve.
Mr. Brockmeyer is survived by sons, Joseph W. Brockmeyer of Street, Gary J. Brockmeyer of Manchester, Roy R. Brockmeyer of Joppa, Richard E. Brockmeyer of Bel Air, Glenn D. Brockmeyer of Joppa, and Robert W. Brockmeyer of Joppa; daughters, Linda C. Nicodemus of Joppa, Sue Dieter of Pylesville and Chrystelle A. Rabenau of Joppa; 25 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles L. Brockmeyer, Jr., 9 brothers and sisters and great great grandson, Mason Sites.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church Boy Scouts Troop 877, 8030 Bradshaw Road, Bradshaw, MD, 21087.
