Charles L. Nichols

Charles L. Nichols, age 71, of Bel Air, MD passed away on November 20, 2013 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charles Leff Nichols Sr. and Alma Leota Owens Nichols. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served our country during the Vietnam War and worked as a Safety Officer for the Baltimore County School Board where he retired in 2002. After retiring, he joined the McComas Funeral Home Family as a Funeral Service Associate. Charlie was a dedicated member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Family Bible Study teacher. He was a member of the original Design and Build committee for the Living Christmas Tree. Additionally, he was a member of the Muddy Creek Fork Preservation Society in Pennsylvania. Charles enjoyed life, trains and was a flight enthusiast.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife of 51 years, Veronica Lee Norman Nichols; daughter, Doris Hazlegrove and husband, Dale, of Chester, VA; daughter-in-law, Susan Anne Nichols; granddaughters, Jennifer Lee Sites, Victoria Ann Hazlegrove, Alyssa Gray Hazlegrove and Kara Anne Nichols; and step grandson, Timothy Hutton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Edward O. Nichols and sisters, Pauline Knight, Elaine Strickland and Velma Nichols.

Pallbearers were past and present Deacons of Oak Grove Church, honorary pallbearers were the McComas Funeral Home family.
