Charles Joseph King, age 70, of Edgewood, MD passed away on September 29, 2012 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Charles Leo King and Margaret Rosalie King(nee Greene). For 40 years he worked for the United States Postal Service at Edgewood Arsenal and Aberdeen Proving Ground and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters. He was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic minister and delivered communion to homebound parishioners. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He was caring of the needs of others, smiled often, shared his humor and rarely complained. His vibrant personality and generous spirit will always be remembered. He accepted his serious illness with courage and grace. Everyone who knew him has a favorite "Charlie" story. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. King is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan B. King (nee Butt)of Edgewood, MD; sons, John King of Ocean City, MD and Charles King and his wife, Louise Hung, of San Francisco, CA; daughter, Margaret Kanaras and her husband, Chris, of Fallston, MD; and grandchildren, Kristen and Nicole Kanaras of Fallston, MD.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Johns Hopkins and Upper Chesapeake Hospitals that helped with his care and treatment.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the St. Francis de Sales Building Fund, 1450 Abingdon Road, Abingdon, MD 21009.
