Charles J. ''Buck'' Appleby

Charles J. "Buck" Appleby, age 72, of Forest Hill, MD, died on February 27, 2011 at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Otto Eugene Appleby and Gertrude Anna Casey. He retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration after working there for 42 years. An avid golf enthusiast, he was a former vice-president, for several years, of the Forest Hill Recreation Council. During the mid 1970's and early 1980's, Charles loved spending his time coaching his own children, as well as other area children, in recreation league baseball, softball, and soccer.

Mr. Appleby is survived by his wife, Joe Ann Appleby of Forest Hill, MD; sons, Joseph M. Appleby of Rising Sun, MD and John E. Appleby and wife, Dana M., of Forest Hill, MD; daughters, Wendy S. Poteet and husband, Spencer A., of Jarrettsville, MD and Carol L. Alex and husband, Joe T., of York, PA; two brothers; one sister; and eight grandchildren.
