Charles H. Snyder, age 82, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on April 17, 2022 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charles and Amalia (Correa) Snyder and devoted husband to Anna Mae (Bright) Snyder. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on May 9, 2021. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of service with the U.S. Navy, serving during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He received the following commendations during his time in the Service: Navy Unit Commendation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, he worked for Quest Research Group as a contractor before starting his own business, CHS Consultants, LLC.
During the early 60s, he played the double bass in a folk music group known as The Travelers. The group, consisting of active-duty service members, performed at military bases and stations throughout the far east. In the early 70s he hosted the television show, Open Gangway, which covered a variety of topics of interest to military personnel on the Far East Network. He was a member of the Masonic Order, and a Past Master of Aomori Lodge # 10 in Misawa, Japan. He was a member of Shrine of the Little Flower and St. Dominic's (Hamilton). He enjoyed music, reading, playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by: daughters, Linda Bealefeld and her husband Frederick Bealefeld, III; Laura Runyeon and her husband John Runyeon, Jr.; son, Mark Snyder and his wife Anne Russell; grandchildren, Frederick Bealefeld, IV and his wife Madeleine Bealefeld; Erica Kelleman and her wife, Heather Kelleman, Matthew Runyeon and Emma Runyeon; great-granddaughters, Charlotte Bealefeld and Gabrielle Bealefeld; and his sister-in-law, Faye (Snyder) Farmer.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Charles Snyder.
