CHARLES FRANCIS MYERS, JR., 78, of Bel Air, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on April 21, 2004. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charles Francis, Sr. and Phillipina C. Neun Myers. He retired from Genstar after 44 years of service as District Manager of the Northeastern Section. He served in the Navy during WWII in Europe and Asia. A member of Bel Air United Methodist Church since 1975, he was an usher and was known to church members as “Mr. Fix It” when things were broken and as the “Candy Man.” He was past member of Grace Lutheran Church, Baltimore. He was in the first graduating class of the Navy Seals then known as the Navy Underwater Demolition Team (U.D.T.). He was a longtime volunteer at Manna House. When he first got married, he was owner and operator at the SUNOCO Service Station on the corner of Taylor and Harford Roads.
Mr. Myers is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Duncan Myers; a daughter, Deborah J. Lowe of Tyrone, Georgia; two brothers, Edward Myers of Baltimore and Wilbur Myers of Baltimore; two sisters, Evelyn Grieves of Baltimore and Emelie Cox of Baltimore. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, David D. Myers and a brother, John Myers.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bel Air United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 21 Linwood Ave., Bel Air, MD 21014.
