CHARLES CLIFFORD DEEL, of Edgewood, died at his home on April 11, 2006. He was 79 years old.
Born in Putnam, Virginia, he was the son of the late Bryan and Millie Mae Duty Deel and the husband of the late Lillian Stacer Deel. He moved to Maryland in 1943.
He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1984 as facilities manager. During his retirement, he managed and worked with his wife at the Exton Golf Pro Shop. In 1945, he enlisted in the US Navy and served four years. He then began his career as an electrician at the Edgewood Arsenal electric shop where he was a foreman.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed time spent in the Bible study classes. He was a 50 year member of the Aberdeen Masonic Lodge #187 A.F.&A.M. where he served 40 years as Tyler, was an Honorary Past Master and was awarded the title of Assistant Grand Tyler of the Grand Lodge A.F.&A.M. of Maryland. He served many years as an assistant Boy Scout troop leader of Pack 937 in Abingdon, MD. He was a life member of the Edgewood American Legion Post #17.
Mr. Deel was an avid golfer but the greatest joy was time spent with his many grandchildren.
Mr. Deel is survived by two sons, Charles Clifford Deel, II of Woodbridge, Virginia and John Bryan Deel of Monroe, Georgia; two daughters, Susan Angelilli of Dublin, Maryland and Lisa Jirsa of Bel Air, Maryland; six sisters, Margaret Pritchard of Dania, Florida , Virginia Manos of Abingdon, Maryland, Nora Heaps of Perry Hall, Maryland, Loretta Ahmed of Perryman, Maryland, Charlotte Ripanti of Wilmington, Delaware, and Paula Bierman of Elkton, Maryland; and nine grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Earl Deel and a sister, Faye Stewart.
Pallbearers will be: Charles P. Angelilli, Matthew Angelilli, Charles J. Angelilli, Bryan Angelilli, Steve Jirsa and Kyle Jirsa.
