Cecil Dee Hassell

Cecil Dee Hassell departed this life peacefully on May 3, 2018. He was born July 24, 1944 to Johnny Hassell and Bessie Hassell in Norfolk, VA. Cecil attended Lindenwood Elementary School and he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Cecil was a 1965 graduate of Norfolk State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics.

Cecil served as Industrial Base Planner for the Nuclear Biological Chemical Industrial Base Integrated Product Team. He has authored and co-authored 30 reports and publications along with numerous summaries in the areas of antimaterial and riot control incapacitating. Cecil also has 5 patents to his name. Cecil has also done graduate studies and excellent work at the University in the areas of Electro Chemistry, Spectrocopy, Engineer Mathematics and Chemistry Engineering.

Cecil retired July 31, 1999 after 34 years at the Soldier Biological Chemical Command, located in Edgewood, MD. He has completed numerous Department of the Army managerial and related government/university courses, totaling 1300 to 1500 hours, during the span of his 33 year career.

Cecil leaves to cherish loving memories to his precious, devoted, loving wife Jaqcueline W. Hassell, three sons, Pastor Christopher Hassell and his wife, Melissa of Norfolk, VA, Cecil Hassell Jr. of Charlottesville, VA and Norman Hassell and his wife, Angela of Virginia Beach, VA. Cecil also leaves loving memories to his brother, Joseph Hassell, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and 2 nieces.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Michael Hassell and Ernest Harrison.

Cecil was a devoted Christian, who truly loved God. He was an excellent and caring father. He was a hard working family man, a wonderful clarinet musician, a great Bible teacher, and a community helper serving in prison ministry. He was also a volunteer with meals on wheels for almost 18 years, a prayer warrior and a fantastic educator.
