CARTER RAY, age 63 of Abingdon, died at his home on November 6, 2002. Born in Marion, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Edward Smith and Annie Elizabeth Woody Ray. He was a steel worker for Bethlehem Steel retiring after 38 years of service. He also served for 22 years as the caretaker at Inverness Park, Dundalk. He was a member of the Boumi Temple. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed family gatherings and Sunday dinners. He was the past member of Big Buck Rod & Gun Club, Dundalk.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife, Annie Jones Ray; three sons, James E. Williams of Dundalk; Troy L. Ray of White Marsh; David H. Ray of Bel Air; four daughters, Sheila A. Head of Fort Howard; Esther M. Head of Dundalk; Helen E. Anderson of Dundalk; Joyce A. Pennington of Mt. Storm, West Virginia; two brothers, Jack Ray of Marion, North Carolina; John Ray of Marion, North Carolina; one sister, Edna Lawing of Marion, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
