Carol Bonnie Scanlan, age 77, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on October 31, 2024. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Emma (Bantley) Soloweigh and wife of Gerald Paul Scanlan. 

She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, Bel Air, Maryland. She was a graduate of Penn State University and a dedicated booster and went on to a career as a Speech Pathologist and Director of Special Education. Carol was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, in the Delta Kappa Chapter, the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society where she had also been a member of the board. She was an accomplished artist, and her paintings were exhibited and won awards in multiple national shows. Carol and her husband were avid travelers, their adventures took them throughout the world and to almost all of the States. She became a cellist later in life, performing with both the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra and the Pinellas County Symphony Orchestra, Florida. She treasured quiet mornings reading her bible, a practice from her many summers at Camp Sequanota.

In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her daughter, Holly Anne (Joseph) Coleman; sons, Benjamin Joseph Scanlan, and Peter James (Samantha) Scanlan; grandson, Finnegan Coleman; granddaughter, Amelia Scanlan; sister, Ann Rockette; brothers, Michael Soloweigh, and Theodore Soloweigh.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Lloyd Scanlan, and will be laid to rest beside him. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Holy Name Church in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania at 1:00 pm followed by interment at Holy Name Cemetery.
