Carol Ann Mcfarland Martin

October 24, 1934 — June 27, 2020

Carol Ann McFarland Martin, age 85, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on June 27, 2020 at Forest Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late James Louis and Margaret Crescentia (Birkel) Boughan. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Philip McFarland and her second husband, Paul Lloyd Martin. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where she loved playing bingo and attending senior club. She was a member of the Coachmen Club, National Campers and Hikers Association, and the Moose. She taught school within the Archdiocese of Baltimore before she worked at St. Joseph Hospital as the Director of Admissions/Reservations. She enjoyed camping and square dancing and after retirement Carol spent her time traveling around the country in her Coachmen motor home with her husband, Paul and frequently had her children and grandchildren tag along. As they traveled one of their favorite pastimes was scouting out local family restaurants and truck stops. Carol was an avid believer in her mother’s saying of always eat dessert first especially anything chocolate. Whenever she would meet new people she would brag about the number of grandchildren, great-grand children, and great-great grandchildren she had.

Carol is survived by her three daughters, Colleen Sean Husemann and husband, David of Abingdon, Maryland, Maureen McFarland Mulcahy and husband, Terrence of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and Erin Kathleen McFarland-Funk Brown and husband, Jay of White Hall, Maryland. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren, and 4 great- great- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Kevin Patrick and Brian Gerard McFarland and son-in-law, Chip Funk.
