CARMEL COLEMAN, age 72, of Joppa, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on February 10, 2005. Born in Grundy, Virginia, he was the son of the late Ira Ayers and Meda Jane Stiltner Coleman. He worked for 9 years for Cloverland Dairies as a mechanic. He also worked for 25 years for the Maryland Transportation Authority- J.F.K. Highway as a mechanic and retired from that position. He played bluegrass music and liked to work on cars, radios, televisions and musical instruments. He enjoyed traveling and he was a devoted family man. He served his country in the 24th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army for 3 years during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife, Peggy L. Coleman; two sons, Genal Reese of Utah; Cecil Bickford of Baltimore; two daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” Taylor of Edgewood; Barbara Ann Dixon of White Marsh; one sister, Lenia Everman of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; and 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was one of nine children. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Eugene Coleman.
