Captain Emanuele Lorenzo DiCasagrande, age 69, of Churchville, MD, died on May 21, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born and raised in Genova, Italy, he was the son of the late Nicolo Angelo DiCasagrande and Chiara Rita Bergamaschi. A sea captain of oil and gas tankers for 15 years, he was Vice President of Mediterranean Shipping Company and established the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce for Washington and Baltimore. A Harford County resident for 20 years, he worked on many charitable causes, most recently at Johns Hopkins for the care and housing of patients at the hospital. An avid soccer fan, especially of the Genoa soccer team, he also collected stamps and coins and enjoyed world history.
Mr. DiCasagrande is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mirella DiCasagrande of Churchville, MD; sons, Luca P. DiCasagrande and his companion, Lauren, of Bel Air, MD and Marco W. DiCasagrande and his wife, Kristin L., of Baldwin, MD; daughter, Rita D. Olsen and her husband, Adam C. of Arlington, VA; and seven grandchildren, Anna, Max, Ava, Mathew, Alexander, Andrew and Ella.
