CAPTAIN BILL TAYLOR, age 82, of Bel Air, MD, died on May 10, 2007 at Lorien Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Belcamp, MD. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William James Taylor Sr. and the late Louise Nelligan Taylor. He was a Master in the U.S. Merchant Marines, and later, superintendent in both New York and Baltimore for various shipping lines. A veteran, he served our country in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 39 in Bel Air and was a past member of both the Elks Club in New York and Winters Run Golf Course. An avid golfer, he was a loving father and doting grandfather.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katherine Elizabeth Looby Taylor of Bel Air, MD; one son, William James Taylor III of Cockeysville, MD; three daughters, Janet Reilly of Monterey, CA, Karen Tiefenwerth of Bel Air, MD, and Kathleen Zungailia of Timonium, MD; one sister, Mary Lou Armstrong of Levittown, NY; eleven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Jack Taylor and Joseph Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #39, 500 Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, MD 21014.
