Calvin E. Hanson

CALVIN E. HANSON, age 86, of Fallston, MD, died on May 3, 2007, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. Born in Joppa, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas Earl and Helen Elizabeth Ford Hanson. He graduated from Bel Air High School in 1937 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He lived and worked as a dairy farmer in Edgewood until he retired in 1990. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, the American Legion, and Trinity Lutheran Church. His hobbies included bowling and gardening.

Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lillian Marie Williams Hanson, of Fallston, MD; two sons, Robert Hanson and his wife Jane Reffell of Bangalow, NSW, Australia, and Thomas Hanson of Parsonsburg, MD; four daughters, Kit Hanson of Ocean Pines, MD, Cynthia Gonzalez of Aiken, SC, Joyce Matthews and her husband, Michael, of Bradenton, FL, and Nancy Kannis of Benowa, Queensland, Australia; six grandchildren, Scott Helstrom of Ocean City, MD, Laura Gonzalez of Aiken, SC, Sarah and Julian Kannis, both of Queensland, Australia, and Henry and Jack Hanson, both of Bangalow, NSW, Australia; and one great granddaughter, Audrey Fitzgerald of Valencia, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Arndt.

Pallbearers were Mike Matthews, Donald Hein, Scott Helstrom, Glen Hankey, Bill Hollandsworth, and Andy Hanson.
