Caleb Winslow Jr., 93, resident of Brightview Avondell, Bel Air, MD, died on October 17, 2011 at his home after a long illness. Caleb was born in Baltimore, March 30, 1918. He was the first of four children born to Lena Garey and Caleb Winslow, followed by Garey, Louise and Elizabeth. He attended Tome School in Port Deposit, MD and later attended Hampton Sydney College where he was a member of Sigma Chi. He volunteered for service with the U.S. Army-Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Gander, Newfoundland among other bases. He married Ann Dunnington Griffith in 1947. After his service with the war, he pursued an interest in commercial photography doing portraiture in Baltimore. His interest in photography led to a career at Ballistics Research Laboratory at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Harford County. He loved gardening and was known to many as the Daylily King. He was a member of the Society of the War of 1812, the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, the Huguenot Society, and the Woodpecker's Club. He also enjoyed painting and vacationing at the family lodge at Deep Creek Lake.
Caleb is survived by wife, Ann of 64 years; his sister Louise Winslow Williams; four children: John Randolph, Mitchell Griffith, Marjorie Kehoe, and Robert Salisbury; eight grandchildren, Sherry, Rebecca, Leslie, Kimberly, Katherine, Cory and Samuel Winslow, and Katahdin Kehoe; and two great-grandchildren, Tucker Welty and Caleb Collins. He was predeceased by daughter, Carol Fayssoux Winslow.
