Burley Frank Cochran, Jr.

Burley Frank Cochran Jr., age 88, of Delta, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 9, 2024, in Delta, Pennsylvania. Born in Maryland, he was the son of the late Burley and Hannah (Griest) Cochran and the loving husband of Donna (Brown) Cochran.

Burley proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a dedicated member of the VFW Aberdeen Post 10028 and worked in the Ballistics Research Laboratory at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Burley also spent time teaching welding at Harford Community College.

His remarkable contributions include helping build the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel and welding the frame for the Fresnel lens on the Concord Point Lighthouse in Havre de Grace. He also played a role in creating supplies shipped to Afghanistan for soldiers.

Burley had a talent for gardening, tending a beautiful vegetable garden with perfect, straight rows. He loved fishing, catching, and steaming his own crabs, and was renowned for his great crab cakes. A passionate dog lover, Burley enjoyed taking his late dog, Conan, on truck rides. He was also known for his artistic abilities and was an avid supporter of Donald Trump.

In addition to his wife Burley is survived by his; son, Thomas Cochran; sister, Mary Doris (Michel) Stephens; brother, Michael Anthony Cochran, Sr. and fiancé’ Starr Lynn Birx; granddaughter, Stephanie Cochran; several nieces and nephews; and stepson, James (Stephanie) Colvin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Mahan; and brothers, Robert Worthington Cochran, and Ronald Lee Cochran.
